The husband and I celebrated the coming fall with a lovely afternoon in Asheville--enjoying the mountains and enjoying Asheville's OrganicFest. It was like a little get a way...something we needed. With school starting and deadlines surrounding us on all sides, we needed some time to reconnect, drive, and get away together.
Scofield woke up to the smell of coconut flour pancakes cooking. They were delicious! I might have had three or more. You know how pancakes always seem like they are going to be fluffy while they are cooking? But by the time you flip them and the other side cooks, they are...well..."flat as a pancake." These pancakes were not like that. They started off fluffy and stayed fluffy the whole time. It was like eating a cloud...which I imagine are fluffy and delicious as well.
After a lovely breakfast we were in the car and off to Asheville, after making a couple stops along the way. We stopped by the post office and I made my first shipment to Australia! Then we grabbed and coffee (so happy to have a starbucks close by!) and headed to the mountains. There's something about having a warm cup of coffee in my hand when taking trips in the car. It makes it all the more lovely in my mind.

The festival was wonderful. The weather was PERFECT. It was in the 70's with a nice breeze. We sat down in the grass outside, soaked up the warm autumn sun, and listened to live music with organic food swirling around us. Heaven? maybe like it..
That husband of mine--mm! And free things
from the festival.
Next stop, the Green Sage. Truly one of the best lunches we've had in a while. They had a mostly organic menu with vegan and gluten free options. Not only that, but they served a bundle of flavors of smoothies (my new favorite food item) and great coffee! Scofield enjoyed a burger with a side of sweet potato fries (or at least the sweet potato fries I didn't get to first..whoops) and I had a citrus kale salad with avocado and raisins. So good.
After a late lunch and some time walking through downtown, we found an older movie theater. Immediately the "Celeste and Jesse Forever" advertisement caught both of our eyes. It's a movie we've been wanting to see. It was 4:10...the movie started at 4:20. We looked at each other, and thought "why not!" Plus, it had just started to rain. Perfect, right!? So into the movie theater we went. Our afternoon could not have finished any better. The movie was SO good. I laughed, I cried, and I cried some more, and then I laughed again. It was moving, yet hilarious. I give it a thumbs up, 5 stars! You should seriously go see it.
Thanks for the lovely day, Asheville! Until next time...
xoxo,
Lauren
