apple cinnamon & kiwi oatmeal.

Oatmeal tastes the best in the winter (next to soup). It is a bowl of warmth in my hands. And the greatest thing about it (outside of it's fiber, protein, and antioxidants) is that it is completely versatile. You can make it taste like anything you want! What's not to love.
I thought I'd try a new flavor combination by adding kiwi to my oatmeal this week.  I've been on a kiwi kick here lately. I've been putting it in my smoothies, and now on my oatmeal. Watch out salads--coming for you next.

apple cinnamon & kiwi oatmeal

ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup water (or milk)
  • 1/2 apple, diced
  • 1 kiwi, skinned and diced
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 1/8 cup cranberries
Follow the instructions on the package for the oatmeal (1/2 cup oatmeal to 1 cup of water, microwave on high for 2 minutes). While the oatmeal is microwave-cooking, dice your apple and skinned kiwi. Next, add the honey, cinnamon, and chia seeds to the oatmeal and mix well. Top with the apples and kiwi, and finish with a sprinkle of dried cranberries.
Now go grab your cup of coffee and warm up with this breakfast bowl.
Happy Friday Friends!
