this smoothie is the bomb. when i make it for breakfast, i notice a little kick in my step the rest of the morning. i like to think all of the vitamins and nutrients seeping from it provide an added energy boost. i'll let you in on a little secret--sometimes, i don't even drink coffee when i make it...blasphemy, i know, but it's true.
green power smoothie
ingredients:
- 1 banana, sliced
- 1 kiwi, peeled
- 1/2 pear, sliced [with skin left on for added fiber]
- 1/4 avocado
- 1/3 cup pineapple
- 1/3 cup mango
- 1 tbsp. ground flaxseed
- 1 tbsp. honey
- 1 cup packed spinach
- 1/2 cup-3/4 cup vanilla, unsweeted almond milk, depending on desired thickness
Add all ingredients into your magic bullet (or blender) and blend until smooth. If you're using a magic bullet, you may need to blend in increments -adding about half the ingredients, condensing by blending, then adding the rest.
this smoothie is filling. it keeps me full into the afternoon. it also makes for a great lunch, if you are into drinking your meals...
