...but I like to call it a milkshake. No--there's no milk, and no icecream, but the banana gives it a perfect creamy texture. It melts right in your mouth!
Trying to reduce refined sugar in my diet, I'm doing a month of Paleo eating. Yet, with a smoothie like this, I'm not even missing the sugar! The natural sweetness of the banana mixes with the unsweetened cocoa powder, giving it a nice chocolate flavor. For some reason, it reminds me of cookie dough. Maybe a few extra blueberries thrown in there could be substituted for cookie dough bites? This might be my sugar detox talking. But I do know..I will probably be having one of these every night...
Chocolate, Banana, Blueberry Smoothie:
- 1 whole banana, sliced (ripe, but not overripe--just a few brown spots)
- 3/4 cup frozen, unsweetened blueberries
- 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I like Almond Breeze)
- 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
So, what does Paleo mean? I hope that's not a stupid question.:)
ReplyDeleteHa, No Michael, that's not stupid! I had to do a lot of research before I totally understood it. If you click on the word it will take you to a website with more information on it. But basically it's "eating like a caveman." Mostly fruits, vegetables, nuts, and meat.
