When we woke up on the Friday before Christmas for our hike, I think we woke up to the coldest day we've seen this season. Yet, we marched up to the mountains (where it was only getting colder) anyway. Then, during our drive, it started to snow! Well, it was only a few flurries..and only for about 15 minutes.. but we were still ecstatic! It was enough to satisfy our hope for a white christmas.
I know, I know..my friends are cute. |
And that is an icicle.
Hanging out on the rocks was one of my favorite moments of the hike. It felt like we were on top of the world, as we were looking down over a waterfall. And the sun was just perfect. It was shining bright, warming our skin when the wind wasn't too strong. It was so quiet up there--completely peaceful.
But...when the wind was blowing, we had the many faces of Catherine to distract us from the cold [Ha!]....
There is nothing like a cold winter hike in the South Carolina mountains...especially with friends to [at least] keep your heart warm.
xoxo,
